Married couple, Derek Storm, movie star & Julius Holiday, musical theater icon leave Hollywood and return to their theater roots in upstate New York with their children. They rescue a struggling community theater ravaged by time and the pandemic.
The series begins with Derek and Julius in the Catskills, on a snowy morning. They are each going over costs, Derek's are to renovate the theater and produce shows. Julius's are to finish renovating their new home and redecorate the theater. In their playful banter lies an uncertainty, about their move, was it the right thing to do? Together, they find solace in each other, which reassures them that they made the right decision.
Enter the children: Sandy Storm, 15; Mason Storm, 12; Abigale Storm, 9, not happy about the move. Accustom to their Los Angeles lifestyle. Sandy and Abigale are not happy about having to share a bedroom, especially one that is too close to Mason's bedroom. Their home in L.A. afforded them space. Chores, like laundry must be undertaken by them, absent a household staff, housekeeper.
Sandy, Mason & Abigale each of the children possess unique talents that will come in handy in restoring and running the theater. Sandy, a fashionista, expert in hair care and make-up. Mason, a technical wonderkid and computer savvy. Abigale, adept at home repair and improvement, a budding leader.
Enter Derek's ex-wife, Marina Storm, not happy that Derek and Julius moved her children across the country. She gives her job at a prestigious law firm in L.A. and opens her own law firm in the city.
Frances Van Garden, 65, the long time matriarch of the Caliber Theater, has found it difficult to manage the upkeep as revenues have steadily declined since the pandemic. Her handyman nephew, Cody Gillespie, 24 are faced with the difficult choice of closing the theater, until Derek and Julius decide to buy it. This allows them to return to their theater roots. Derek to act, Julius to write and produce.
Derek's film career was slowing down, he fears becoming typecast as his popular super hero in a successful film franchise. Julius tired of the decades of touring.
Derek and Julius butt heads with Frances, over what to produce. She is a purist, only plays and musicals. They are for anything that people will buy a ticket for. Affable, young Cody is often times caught in between his aunt and two men whose careers he idolizes.
